Threaded Memories

As humans, we love reflecting on memories and create a passion for story-telling. Every now and then, there are some memories that are really special we want to honor. Embroidery is a great way to translate a memory into a cherished item. I love honoring memories into a personalized and sentimental embroidery piece. Read ahead if you feel like you have a potential idea for a bespoke embroidery piece!

Choosing Cherished Moments

As an artist, it’s really important for me to understand your vision and the memory you would like to capture for a bespoke piece. I encourage clients to take a stroll down memory lane by looking through old photographs. Looking through photos can take you to that memory and the place where the memory took place.

Once you have a few photos picked out, send them over! I love hearing more about the memories behind the photo so I can make a piece that is truly special. We can then talk about which place is most “embroider-able.”

Recently my client Chelsie got engaged in Granada and wanted to commemorate how special this place was. She sent me a few options for the locations that are special to her. We ended up selecting on the Albaicín which was perfect considering that was our favorite engagement photo!

The Sketching Phase

Albaicín Final Design

Collaboration is a big piece of how you can fall in love with your personalized piece. In the blog post Importance of the First Commission Sketch, I highlight the importance of the first commission sketch. The first iteration sketch is a way for me to connect your special place and collaborate with you to make a bespoke piece truly yours.

We will work together to find what parts you remember and what things you would like to highlight from your photo!

Embroidery Process

Once we have a design we are both thrilled about, on to the embroidery process! The design is a great foundation for a special embroidery. The design allows me to focus on the intricate process that is hand embroidery. Each bespoke piece includes details such how thick the thread is to show different line weight. I love taking the time to make sure each stitch is where it needs to be so it’s next to identical to the design.

Conclusion

Commissioning bespoke embroidery is not merely about crafting art; it's a collaborative journey of transforming cherished memories into tangible, timeless pieces. The process involves careful consideration of client needs, meticulous attention to design elements to capturing the essence of significant moments. I’d love to make this happen for you!
