The Cabin

Susan had this really cute cabin on on her property. The way it was tucked away in the woods made it a serene place you would like to go to. She loves having the extra space in case a family member wants to stay or maybe just to snuggle up a read a book.

The moment I saw the picture, I already had the perfect vision in my head.

The Design

The green roof is such a unique view point I had to make this the focal point of the piece. I included some additional stitches to show that it was a metal roof. Keeping in all the lines was imperative to make it look like a cabin.

The leaves

I knew I wanted to really capture the beautiful leave colors in Wisconsin. Using birch trees was a no brainer so I pulled up some images from Unsplash to help find the colors.

Once I got the colors I tried some different blending techniques and how I would get that nice gradient like the reference picture. Using a mix of threads, yellow + gold, and light green + dark green I was able to make that smooth transition.
