Hancock Tower
Introduction · Design · In Progress · Final Piece
I consider the Hancock Tower a beacon that overlooks the city of Chicago. If you have ever visited Chicago, you will see this tower from any angle in the city. For me this building is so much more than just a tower, it’s a reminder how grateful I am to live in Chicago.
When my partner first visited me from Argentina, the last leg of his visit was Chicago. Instead of going to the sky deck, I knew there was a very fancy bar where the views were just as good. At that moment, we both fell in love with the city and knew in our hearts we would end up living here together.
The Design
Skidmore, Ownings & Merrill designed the building with function over beauty in mind. The tapered structured allows retailers to have more space and residents to gaze over the views. When designing this embroidery pattern, I wanted to show off the tapered “tube” with a dynamic perspective.
